Letter From the President
Dear colleagues,
We are nine weeks away from our annual meeting, Translational Science 2020 (TS20). The excitement about the meeting is accelerating as is evident by unprecedented early bird registration. We have almost sold out our initial housing block and asked the Marriott to open additional rooms to accommodate those of you yet to register. Please register by Friday, February 28 to take advantage of early bird savings.
The remarkably hard-working organizing committee has expanded the breadth of offerings. Several themes run throughout the meeting including precision medicine. We remind ourselves daily that our valued partner organizations are integral to the success. I am happy that we have more scholars, new attendees from the IDeA states, increased special interest group (SIG) participation, and remarkable CTSA engagement at the meeting. We have carefully coordinated our meeting with the CTSA Program Group Meetings (hosted by CLIC) early in the week and with the AFMR Eastern section meeting later in the week, as well as the Clinical Research Forum meeting during TS20.
I hope you will find me in Washington, DC and say hi. There been so many highlights of my year as President - it’s hard to focus on just one but I will say that the many introductions I have had across the country stoke the fires of my passion for the mission and vision of the spectrum of clinical translational research. I have met basic laboratory scientists, clinical trialists, and policy and advocacy mavens. I think you will find the entire range of clinical translational research presented in Washington, DC. Get your registration done ASAP.
We will soon be announcing the newly elected ACTS board officers and board members. I expect that you will be pleased with the increasingly diverse leadership of your organization. ACTS is an energetic and forward-looking organization with a cohesive and collaborative culture, committed to advancing health and the careers of scholars and mentors.
